Hello, my name is Chris Madden and I am an Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist, which is a bit of a tongue twister but essentially means that I will offer you a safe and non-judgemental space to explore a present difficulty. This will be done at your pace, in a collaborative way, helping you to explore or identify the things that might not be working for you and navigate a new way of being with more choices.
You might want to know what kind of therapist I am. There are a few words that I could use to let you know- relational, person centred – and these mean that I am interested in who you are, who you have been and who you are becoming in relation to yourself and others.
No amount of words will ever describe each of us and everyone has different needs, so my way of working is flexible and geared towards the changes you would like to make.
I appreciate how difficult it can be to take the first steps towards seeking help or meeting a new therapist and, equally, how important it is to feel comfortable with the person you choose as your therapist; so I offer an initial no obligation session to meet, talk, ask questions and decide if I’m right the right therapist for you.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and follow a strict code of conduct and ethics. I am a member of Help Musicians UK Health and Welfare Advisory Board and the Chair of the Board Trustee for MAP (Music and Art Productions), a Leeds based charity offering creative programmes for young people at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
